About Kalyani University
The University of Kalyani was established on 01st November 1960 by the Kalyani University Act 1960 of the state of West Bengal. The Kalyani University is a state university and its activities are guided by the Kalyani University Act 1981 enacted by the Government of West Bengal. It is a state government administered affiliating & research university located in the Nadia district of West Bengal. Kalyani University offers the undergraduate & post Graduate Programs for the students. The university is situated in the eastern bank of the Ganges which is only 2000 meters from the university. It is situated at Kalyani which is 50 kilometers far from Kolkata. The university is close to Kalyani Ghoshpara Railway Station. During the second world war, the university land was under the control of the American Army who maintained an army depot there.
The university was accredited and awarded A grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the year 2016. The territorial jurisdiction of the Kalyani University is extended to the districts of Nadia & Murshidabad. University has 5 Faculty of Studies and 62 departments.
